2012 Olympic Games Update as at 16th May 2006 Print E-mail
The Great Britain Target Shooting Federation (G.B.T.S.F.)  committee came to Nuthampstead Shooting Ground

The Great Britain Target Shooting Federation (G.B.T.S.F.)  committee came to Nuthampstead Shooting Ground to look at the site and surroundings with a view to recommend this site to stage the 2012 Olympic Shooting competitions.

Unfortunately, the committee unanimously decided that Dartford Shooting Ground would be their preferred site because of the 50 minute travelling time between the Olympic Village and Nuthampstead Shooting Ground.  It was felt that the Olympic Committee would not agree to this distance for competitors to travel.

This decision is not final as the London Olympic Organising Committee will have the final say in whether the Shooting Events will be moved from Woolwich Artillary Barracks to Dartford Gun Club.

The Legacy of Shooting is a priority in our view and wherever the shooting events are held, the facilities surely must be left for many years to come as a premier training facility and for staging major shooting events in the European calendar.
